Game Preview: Matterfall

The most highly anticipated release for PlayStation 4, will be released this summer in June. There is no official Matterfall release date just yet. We'll update this page when we hear anything more, official or unofficial.

In terms of platforms, Matterfall has been announced for the PS4 only at the moment, but that doesn't mean it will never arrive on Xbox One or PC.

"Matterfall follows an unexpected hero fighting for survival on a ravished sci-fi world infected by a mysterious and deadly alien material known only as “Smart Matter”," said Sony in a blog post.

Using agility and powerful weaponry, you must explore this new world and utilize your own control over the Smart Matter to uncover the mystery of this new threat and save the day before it threatens the very existence of the human race.

The game comes from Housemarque, who is responsible for Super Stardust: Delta and Resogun, which Sony describes as its "favorite arcade action masters."

Ian Pickles from XDEV Studios Europe, said: "Using agility and powerful weaponry you must explore this new world and utilize your own control over the Smart Matter to uncover the mystery of this new threat and save the day before it threatens the very existence of the human race."

It seems the special effects of Matterfall are a key draw for players – the Matterfall official trailer (above) is not one to miss.

"Expect over the top action through a vivid sci-fi world and all the addictive, lightning fast arcade gameplay that you would expect from our friends at Housemarque, the veteran team behind PlayStation classics Resogun, Dead Nation and Super Stardust," added Pickles.

Matterfall is a game for gamers who love to shoot and take on the world.
